Abstract
The relevance of the topic is related to the need to find an alternative method of biometric identification of cats that will be painless, cheap and reliable. The specific pattern of the nasal planum has not been studied previously. The method of such identification becomes possible due to the structural features of the skin on the nose, the papillary patterns of which form a unique pattern that does not change over time. We propose to calculate the ridge count index on impressions of the nasal speculum of cats. To do this, you need to import a scanned impression of the cat's nasal mirror, made with stamp paint, or import the resulting drawing using Photoshop into CorelDraw 14, align vertically and apply a standard grid table with a line thickness of 0.2 mm, consisting of 4 columns and 3 rows on an area bounded above and below by the cutout of the contours of the nostrils. The EF segment is placed in the center of the print, the CD and GH segments are placed so that they are in the center of the pattern between the line of symmetry of the nose and the medial cutout of the nostril. Segments AI, KL, MN and BJ must be equidistant from each other. Thus, the area of study for determining the index will be the central part of the nasal speculum impression. The sum of the ridges in contact with the segments CD, GH, KL, MN will be the ridge count index
