Abstract
This article examines the role of peasant (farmer) farms in the development of the agricultural economy, emphasizing their significant contribution to the sustainable development of rural areas. These small agricultural enterprises contribute to the diversification of production, the conservation of biodiversity, the maintenance of traditional farming methods, and provide access to fresh and high-quality products. They are of great importance in the context of agricultural policy, economic development and sociocultural sustainability of rural communities. Objectively valid long-term and short-term farming problems are identified from the features of agricultural production. A brief analysis of the main indicators of the activity of peasant (farmer) farms of the Kyrgyz Republic in the dynamics of years is also presented. The need to develop and implement government programs in priority areas is key to improving the competitiveness of peasant farms
