Abstract

The article examines the current level of development of the wool sector in the Kyrgyz Republic. Information is provided on the situation with the quality of wool produced in the republic and the disposal of unsold wool. An analysis is given on the structure of agricultural land, on the number of sheep and goats by territory, on the number of approximate breed composition of sheep and goats, on the average shearing and sale of wool. Detailed information about the types, chemical composition and characteristics of wool is given. Calculations are provided to determine the amount of unsold wool and its impact on the environment. The obvious way out of this situation is seen in government support for the purpose of reviving selection and breeding work for the development of fine-wool sheep breeding in the Kyrgyz Republic, the need to restore the value chain and logistics for deep processing of wool, in the production of organic fertilizer from the remaining coarse wool and waste. Based on this article, we can conclude that wool is a completely natural, renewable natural resource, which, if used correctly, ensures sustainable economic development and reduces the negative impact on the environment
