Abstract

This scientific article discusses modern technologies for updating topographic maps based on satellite observations. The methods of obtaining and processing satellite images, their integration with geographic information systems (GIS), as well as algorithms for automatic and semi-automatic image processing to identify changes in terrain are described. The accuracy and relevance of updates carried out using remote sensing data are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the advantages of using satellite technologies for updating maps compared to traditional methods of ground-based measurements, as well as issues of their efficiency and cost reduction. Examples of successful application of satellite data for updating maps in various geographical and climatic conditions are given
