Abstract
The construction of buildings or structures on permafrost soils in seismic areas should be carried out under the condition that the frozen state of the soils is maintained for the entire period of their operation. Construction on thawed soils is also allowed, but in this case, in addition to the requirements provided for by the design standards for foundations and foundations of buildings and structures on permafrost soils, the requirements for ordinary soils in seismic areas for the depth of foundations, as well as for water reduction and artificial strengthening must be taken into account. Seismically unfavorable conditions include highly dissected areas (steep banks, ravines, gorges, etc.), weathered rocks and disturbed by physical and geological processes, highly subsidence soils, screes, landfills, quicksand, mining operations and related areas, where There are tectonic faults. If construction is required under such circumstances, additional measures should be taken to strengthen foundations and strengthen structures
